I got a B on my authenticity essay about My Chemical Romance! I ended up being a little too lax about some things and not being detailed enough about others.
But overall he said it was a pretty okay essay.
Yeah I’m average!!! Feels so good!!! Got a fucking B!!!!
I guess my essay wasn’t too authentic though…

Okay. So usually during finals week I listen to a shit ton of music to get me through the week. Even more than usual because I just have like no motivation at all.
So far, I’ve been listening to Green Day (duhhhh lmao), The White Stripes, The Strokes, The Replacements, Eminem, The Beatles, Bomb the Music Industry!, Andrew Jackson Jihad, R.E.M., Nirvana, Fleet Foxes, My Chemical Romance, and I’ll stop before someone on here kills me.
It’s a little game I like to play called stuff as much music into finals week as possible so you have something to help you through and you don’t completely break down and go nuts.
It’s fun. Everyone should try it.

My Chemical Romance - “The Only Hope For Me Is You” (Live)
Watched it. Listened to it. Liked it. Loved it.
Hmmm…maybe I should get into more My Chemical Romance? Maybe that would be a good idea…

For the My Chemical Romance fans I spoke to I am currently writing my paper now and am almost finished with it. It’s due Monday at midnight so I’ll put the final draft up sometime after that. Just need to warn you though the beginning is a little harsh towards the band so don’t hate me. It’s all for the paper.

Gerard Way’s new solo album after the MCR breakup: Welcome To the Bird Parade, in which a mysterious figure saves lost birds who have been broken, beaten and accidentally flown into windows
Post with 5 notes
This week I’m gonna find time sometime during it to take another listen to The Black Parade and just think of all you guys. (I wanted to do it this weekend but my weekend was nuts and I didn’t have time sadly.) That record is awesome and I think it’s the best the band has to offer.
So…”to the broken, the beaten and the damned.” And “I am not afraid to keep on living, I am not afraid to walk this world alone.” To the MCRmy!
I love you guys. You guys truly know what music is about. And I’ve got your back. :)
I never knew how much gay band members affected me and other people until this year

My Chemical Romance - “Teenagers” (official music video)
Just posting this because it’s my favorite MCR song and I love high strung pop-punk goodness. And yeah. Even if you’re not an avid MCR fan (like me) this song still hits all the right notes.
And sorry guys. This sucks. :( :(
Maybe we’ll become the scary teenagers in the song and go after the band? Haha no just kidding. But actually though…

So I feel kind of awkward writing this. I didn’t know much about MCR until this year when they kept on popping up on my Tumblr a lot. And only listen to one of their albums regularly. So it probably isn’t my place to say anything. But I’m gonna try to say some words anyway. And I’m sorry if it comes out all wrong and terrible.
First off, I wanna just say I’m so sorry to all the MCR fans and would hate to see any of my favorite bands break up. I can definitely understand how hard this is on you guys. And as I said in my other post if any MCR fans want to talk, vent, cry, have someone to hug, tell someone favorite memories album or songs, I’m your girl. :)
But also wanna remind you guys that this isn’t entirely the end of MCR. There have been so many great bands who were only in the spotlight for a little while and made their mark, and continue making their mark on music history. The Beatles were only around about 10 years and they’re still considered pretty much the greatest band ever. Nirvana was only in the national spotlight around 3 years and Kurt Cobain is still considered one of the greatest poetic songwriters of all time. Amy Winehouse only had one big album and died before she could make more new music and she influenced so many artists like Lady GaGa, Adele and Jessie J. All these artists were only around for a short while but they made a big impact.
And I saw from the message that My Chemical Romance has only been around for 12 years. And that sucks that they’re breaking up. But they’ve made a huge impact on the music industry. With The Black Parade probably being the album they’ll most be remembered by. And boy that album’s a killer.
So yeah they might be gone but they’re definitely not forgotten. Years from now I bet kids will still be picking up their albums and giving them a listen, like with The Beatles and Nirvana. And I don’t really know if this is any comfort at all. But I tried.
I know I’m definitely gonna still be listening to The Black Parade years from now. Just figuring out the story line on the album is super hard. Damn that album makes me think! haha
Yeah I don’t know if this really did much.
I hope you guys are ok though.

Dear all the MCR fans of Tumblr (and beyond),
If you need to talk, I’m here. To give you hugs. Let you vent. Share good band memories with me. Share your favorite songs or album. Or just need a shoulder to cry on.
I’m sorry guys. I wish there was more I could do for you. :(

Something I’ve been noticing a lot recently that’s really cool is how nerd culture and music culture overlap. Like a lot of people think that it’s two completely different things but there are really way more similarities than I think people give them credit for.
You know, with nerd culture people go to comic-cons and TV show, book and movie events to meet other fans and bond and everything. And in music culture people go to concerts and band signings and other music events and bond with other fans. And in nerd culture people don’t just sit passively and watch/read their favorite things. They make fan fiction and discuss stuff on message boards and theorize. And in music culture people make cover songs instead of fan fiction and maybe write songs for/about their favorite artists. Or theorize what a new album is gonna be about or whatever on the message boards and internet and everything. And its two different things: but still people don’t sit passively and just watch/read/listen in these cultures. They usually get up and start doing stuff.
And just the people themselves. Kurt Cobain really didn’t like any of his high school. And didn’t want to fit in with any of them and just be his own person. EXCEPT for the nerds and geeks. He thought they were the coolest people ever and they were the only group he desperately wanted to fit into. (I know he also has a quote about being deep and thoughtful but also how he loved to geek out and have fun too. But I forgot where I read that.)
My Chemical Romance said in an interview that they watched Doctor Who while on tour when they asked about it. That was literally the first show that came up. And I know that Gerard Way loves comic books and drawing them and was at the past NYC Comic-Con.
And Billie Joe Armstrong has called himself a self-proclaimed nerd. And he said he kind of had to be with how much he got into music and read about it and researched it compared to other kids his age. (And he said recently that he loves Harry Potter!! And seemed pretty into it when he was saying that. And Harry Potter is something a lot of nerds love.) And we all know Mike Dirnt jokes around (???) that Star Wars is his religion. And yeah it’s pretty obvious the guys from Green Day are all a bunch of nerds.
And John Lennon!! I’m convinced he was the biggest nerd on the planet in his younger days. I mean you can just tell. He had to be such a big nerd! Yeah I’m not letting anyone else tell me otherwise.
But yeah I’ve been thinking about that lately. Because I have a lot of friends who are big self-proclaimed nerds who don’t get the whole music obsession thing people go through. And I have a lot of friends who are big music obsessives who sort of look down at nerds and think that kind of stuff is stupid. But yeah just saying there’s a lot more overlap than most people think and that’s kind of awesome. :)

Wait can any MCR fans help me out with something else?? As some of you know I’m doing a school project on The Black Parade and more specifically the song “Famous Last Words.”
So I sort of get the album mostly. The Cancer Patient is dying and in “Welcome to the Black Parade” maybe dies (???) and is welcomed to The Black Parade when he does and dies along with his favorite memory. (your memory will carry on??) And in that music video (as well as FLW) MCR isn’t MCR but is TBW as a band. And by FLW some shit happens and the float goes on fire and the band’s in ruins and falling apart??? (I don’t know. I’m making shit up from what I read on Wikipedia and my own listening from the album. Can someone let me know if I’m on spot at all or if I’m way out of the ball park?)
And the only song that doesn’t really fit in the album storyline is “Teenagers” and is about Gerard Way feeling old but they put it on the album anyway because it’s a sweet-ass song! (lol)
But what about the song “I Don’t Love You” and the music video??? I don’t get how that connects to the storyline at all. Just what the fuck??? I’m so lost. I looked on Wikipedia but they didn’t really have much. And I know I’m forgetting about the whole beginning of the album before the song WTTBP but I’m not really sure about those either because the album really doesn’t seem to get started and moving quickly and stuff until that song. (The stuff before it is good but seems to be more of a build-up to WTTBP which feels kind of like the climax to the whole album. And everything after that is the falling action I’m guessing.)
And I get “Cancer.” (He’s a cancer patient. DUH.) And “Sleep” I think. But confused how “Mama” fits into the album. Is he dead at this point already?? Or is he comforting his mom by telling her everyone dies and she shouldn’t be sad?? SO FUCKING CONFUSED RIGHT NOWWWWW
And “Disenchanted.” I love that song. But don’t understand how it fits into the storyline either. Is it the buildup to FLW before everything falls apart? Because he seems to be on the breaking point around this song and just about to fall apart. Which seems to happen in FLW.
And I also know this album is kind of sort of based on Beatles Sgt. Pepper, and it’s been nick-named the “goth Sgt. Pepper” so I’m trying to find as many similarities as possible. But all I’ve found so far is the parade float and military uniforms and the use of two very distinct bands with different personalities although they are actually the same band. And maybe I should Wikipedia that album again too and listen to again because I haven’t in awhile. Yeah. This project is becoming more complicated than I originally thought it was gonna be…
And am I over-analyzing this and the album is way simpler than I’m thinking and I don’t know that because I haven’t been listening to it that long??? I don’t know. Me and my stupid English Major over-analyzing everything.
Any MCR fans wanna tell me if I’m close with this album or anything?? Ok. I’m gonna go look at Wikipedia and the main site again. :/
